Volvo Penta's automated docking system - Assisted Docking - won the prestigious Innovation Award at IBEX 2021 (International Boatbuilders’ Exhibition & Conference). The exhibition took place from September 28th to 30th in Florida.

The Volvo Penta Assisted Docking Innovation

Volvo launched the impressive Assisted Docking innovation to the mass market in the spring. The tool is a hybrid between automated and manual docking.

The machine calculates the minor adjustments needed to compensate for external forces such as wind, waves, etc. In this way, the yacht's position is stabilized. The system helps maintain the course without additional navigation by the captain, as well as micro-adjusting the position.

The new system is already part of new yachts equipped with Volvo Penta. Furthermore, customers with IPS yachts between 35 and 120 feet have the option to upgrade their systems.
