Comprehensive maintenance for an Absolute 47 yacht

Comprehensive yacht maintenance means carrying out the full list of necessary activities and care that must be provided for a given vessel.

In the case of this beautiful Absolute 47, the process also included transporting the boat from the port where it was stationed to spend the winter. Both locations are in Greece. Dry docking

Winterization can be performed both in and out of the water. For the team, of course, taking the boat to dry dock is more convenient. This allows all necessary seasonal maintenance activities to be carried out.

Taking a vessel to dry dock is a team effort. It involves a system of heavy machinery and ropes. Through these, the yacht is effectively pulled out of the water and positioned where the maintenance and winterization will take place.

Comprehensive yacht maintenance

Comprehensive maintenance includes activities in three areas - engine maintenance, auxiliary equipment maintenance, and maintenance of the underwater part (hull) of the yacht.

The beautiful Absolute 47 is powered by two Volvo Penta IPS diesel engines. Their maintenance includes comprehensive diagnostics, oil changes, and cleaning of the systems.

All consumables used are original. The goal is to reduce the risk of malfunctions and accidents during the sailing season. Original parts and consumables are not a 100 percent guarantee, of course. However, they are created specifically for the respective engine or equipment, which increases the efficiency of the apparatus.

Diagnostics and preventive maintenance were also performed on all other systems - generator, air conditioners, etc.

Comprehensive hull maintenance

Seawater is unforgiving! Sailing invariably leaves traces on the yacht's hull, regardless of the efforts and care of the owner. In the case of this Absolute 47, the traces were clearly visible.

Deposits, staining, and rust are removed to protect the underwater part of the boat from corrosion. Depending on the waters where the owner will be sailing the following year, special paints are chosen. They are tailored to the salinity and increase the durability of the yacht's coating.

Rust is removed mechanically, and all damaged parts are replaced. This guarantees the owner trouble-free sailing for the following year.
