Engine
Jets feature a relatively simple device. This also means easier and more affordable maintenance for the owner.
The engine drives the impeller, a winged propeller that swirls the seawater by sucking it in from the front to throw it out the back, which pushes the jet.
The engine has a similar device as that of motorbikes and cars, but there are also specifics.
Seasonal maintenance
As with any vessel, the jet requires professional seasonal maintenance. It is recommended that it be done by an experienced mechanic.
As a rule, prevention and diagnosis of a jet is done once a year or after 50 hours of engine operation, which you will hardly reach faster.
Annual maintenance includes changing the oil and filters, changing the spark plugs and refreshing the lubricants.
Winterization
At the end of each sailing season, jet ski winterization is required. In practice, this means preparing for his long stay out of the water during the winter.
Wintering includes basic cleaning and drying of remaining water, lubrication of moving parts, battery maintenance, etc.
By default, most owners combine seasonal service with winterization in the fall.
